Smiles of Faith: A Story of Community and Compassion
Smiles of Faith (SOF) was formed in response to the overwhelming need for dental services in several underserved communities within north Tulsa and downtown. Concerned laity and clergy from five community churches sought to address this great need for dental services in an innovative and collaborative fashion. Thus, Smiles of Faith, Inc. was organized and incorporated as a nonprofit in Oklahoma and obtained federal IRS 501c3 status.
SOF delivers free dental services in a mobile clinic to individuals without dental insurance and who have limited access to care. Our mobile unit provides care at three northside Tulsa churches and one downtown location. These churches are Morning Star Baptist Church, Vernon AME Church, Metropolitan Baptist Church, and Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. We offer basic dental care including dental cleaning, descaling, comprehensive diagnostic services, fillings, extractions, fluoride treatments, and sealants. We also are able to offer referrals for several patients for specialized or more complex procedures.
